The Gunners are on the brink of wrapping up another important deal during the January transfer window.
Arsene Wenger was responsible for the acquisitions of several new players to strengthen his squad during the summer.
But another task for the Arsenal manager to take care of is making sure that key players within the team commit their future to the club.
Olivier Giroud, who joined Arsenal from Montpellier in a £9.6 million deal in 2012, is one of the stars being linked to other clubs with less than 18 months remaining on his current deal.
However, the Frenchman has confirmed he is set to sign a new deal with Arsenal which will bring an end to speculation claiming he could say goodbye to the club this summer.
“We are about to reach an agreement for an extension [to my contract].” Giroud was quoted as saying on Sunday
“It was also a gesture of confidence, I want to continue the adventure here in this family of Arsenal. I feel good here.
“When I spoke to the coach, he always told me that I was an important player.
“I know what I am capable of. I just needed to be patient, to work in training and wait for my hour to come.”
