Emerging reports are suggesting that one of Arsenal’s most important players is apparently no longer interested in remaining at the club.
Arsenal have made an encouraging start to the 2016/17 season after the addition of at least four new players to the squad during the summer transfer window.
However, the future of certain key players remain uncertain heading into the January window with speculation suggesting that rival clubs are once again interested in the club’s biggest assets.
Mesut Ozil, who has less than two years remaining on his current contract, is one of the players being heavily linked with a departure.
And according to Marca, the 28-year-old has actually made it clear to those around him that he would like to end his stay in north London this summer even though initial rumours indicated he was bound to renew his commitment to Arsenal.
The report – echoed by Metro – claims that Ozil, who is yet to sign a new contract at the Emirate stadium, is demanding a new £250,000-a-week deal which has not been offered by the Gunners.
The German international is reportedly considering a return to former club Real Madrid but there has been no official word from the player or his agent.
