Abou Diaby is back on the sidelines.

The French midfielder is to remain out of action for nearly a month after suffering a thigh injury on Saturday. Diaby was withdrawn from the match against Chelsea after only lasting 17 minutes as the Gunners went on to lose 2-1 to the blues.

The 25-year-old had spoken of his relief to return to playing football again as he rediscovered his form this season, but he will now be ruing his fortunes again with another injury lay off on the way.

Diaby appeared to have strained a thigh muscle after he let fly a decent shot at goal which landed right in the arms of Petr Cech.

Arsene Wenger will now have to call more on the services of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who was Daiby’s replacement from the bench on Saturday. The Gunners do have returning options in the midfield department with a fit-again Emmanuel Frimpong and Jack Wilshere now scheduled to make a return with the Under-21 side on Monday.
