Squillaci flies to London for Arsenal medical

Sebastien Squillaci is on the verge of becoming an Arsenal player.

The 30-year-old has been courted by Wenger over the past week and after declining an initial bid from Arsenal for the centre-back, Sevilla have finally come to an agreement with the Gunners over the transfer of Squillaci.

The Frenchman is now due to have a medical at Arsenal’s training ground on Monday and will in all likelihood be unveiled as the club’s latest signing next week.

As Red London reported, Wenger hinted in his post-match interview yesterday that he had moved closer to securing the centre-back and the deal is now on the brink of completion after Sevilla released the following statement on their website just a few moments ago.

“Defender Sebastien Squillaci is tonight traveling to London to have a medical at Arsenal, the club he will be transferred to after an agreement was reached by the two clubs pending the results of the medical.”

  1. Well done on finding this mate. Hopefully we can get Schwarzer in time for the Blackburn game.

    1. It is always a pleasure to inform people of the truth (which hasn’t been ran over and over elsewhere) while occasionally publishing interesting content for your entertainment.

    1. So true!!! Although I don’t think Wenger will consider signing a DM til January window… Remember him stating a couples of years back that he didn’t like signing more than 2 or 3 players at 1 time as it sometimes it could unsettle the team…

  3. Good news, has experience with some top teams so you can’t ask for much more. Wenger isn’t messing around, so people need to lay off him. It might not work out and that’s just how it is sometimes, but I feel like we may win something this season.

This is a very good blog (short and sweet), I hope the quality stays this good for as long as possible.

  4. Excellent news, and a job well done Randy. The experienced CB we were looking for is finally here. Now the goalkeeper and we’ll be set.

  5. Cant say I know too much about this bloke but strength in numbers is never bad, considering our injury record, plus a good bit of experience for the back line will hopefully make us a bit more solid and not as easy to get through.

      1. Sorry, My google chrome showed a blanck page to that link.. So I thought someone might have played a prank on the website…

        Anyways, thanks a lot…

  6. lot better than silvestre. thats 4 decent cb. plus he has a bit of physical presence. id still like a younger cb as well. then steklenburg and id be happy

  7. Great news. Hope a GK will be the next. However I read somewhere that Schwarzer had a failed medical at Arsenal. Any information on that?

    1. The ‘Schwarzer failed medical’ claim is absolute bollocks mate. Arsenal are yet to make a third offer for him.

    2. Lezuzius Re “schwarzer fails medical” you might want to check the sites you visit if your looking for decent, objective and honest articles on Arsenal F.C. arsenal action and le grove are just pure poison sites when it comes to anything positive about the club and our manager

  8. red london, i heard from a good source and many other sources that schwarzer failed his medical…..do u have any info on that?

  9. Great news. And the Schwarzer rumours are just that.He will sign by wednesday and play on saturday.Still think we need a DM to cover for song

  10. This certainly is Good News. despite being so annoying Arsene usually comes up with the unusual – we now need an unsual Gk!!!SOON

  11. Good news indeed! Way to stay on top of things Randy.

BTW, why do you constantly refer to people as “mate”, and use terms like “bollocks”? You’re not english, right? I mean you live in the states don’t you?

  12. Great news. Trust me, Squillaci is a rock-solid CB, loves a physical challenge, reads the game very well and has lots of top-level experience. He played in the Champions League final in 2004 and was instrumental in Monaco’s run to this position. I have a feeling Wenger will go for another DM as well. He was clearly dismayed by Frimpong’s injury because, based on his pre-season displays, Frimpong was more than likely pushed ahead of Denilson in the pecking order. Maybe Diarra again?? He seems to be available for relatively little, and who’s to say Wenger won’t go for him after re-signing Sol back in January?

  13. Dude can you please change the background of your fucking site?

Honestly, it is terrible. Whenever I read any of ure articles and then go back to a normal site it takes my eyes a while to get rid of your background.

    1. Yes. Randy, great blog, but please consider doing something about the background. It’s kind of tacky. Dark is good, but maybe something simple.

      1. Thanks for requesting so politely (unlike the other guy).

Is it better now? I have changed it.

  14. Great news just need a goalkeeper nw. Would prefer stekelenburg over schwarzer but the latter is defo better than almunnia or flappy anyday

  15. Excellent news! Now a goalie and a top no nonsense defensive coach is all we need and we’ll hopefully have a different defensive set up. Our central defence needs a complete change from the comedy we saw at times these past two seasons!!!!

  16. Well thank GOD but i hope that is not going to be like that of sylvestre more over wenger might not buy any player again

  17. Yeaaaaaaah boy! Now all we need is cover for Alex the Great and we should be straight. And of course, a new keeper. Who would you rather have though, Given, Schwarzer or maybe a Steeklenberg? And I know I slayed the spelling….but we could really use Inler. I’d like to see Van der Wiel too, but that’s just wishful thinking…

  18. Ok this is very good news. Now we hav vermaelen, kocsh, dhorou and this guy. Think dats enough of CB’s.
Now all we can do is hope that our team stays injury free for once. Then im sure we’ll winn somethin this year.
