The reign of Unai Emery at Arsenal appears to be heading for an end according to a journalist’s claim on Thursday evening.

The Gunners have endured a very turbulent season so far with their hopes of finishing in the top four once again in grave danger due to a very poor recent run of results in the Premier League.

Some fans were adamant the club were finally going to let go of Unai Emery after the 2-0 loss away to Leicester City which came before the international break.

However, even after the frustrating draw at home to Southampton last Saturday, the club’s hierarchy has remained reluctant to make a terminal decision over the manager’s future.

The Gunners welcomed Frankfurt to the Emirates stadium on Thursday night, hoping to wrap up top spot in their Europa League group.

But after another poor result which saw the team lose to the German side, there are now rumours of a sacking being on the way for Unai Emery.

Indeed, according to Portuguese journalist Goncalo Lopes, the Spaniard is set to lose his job at Arsenal within the next few hours.

In support of Lopes’ claim, other major news outlets are suggesting Emery’s job is on the line ahead of the Norwich City game this weekend.

The Sun have reported Freddie Ljungberg is on standby to take over in the event of Emery’s exit before Sunday’s Premier League match.
