Arsene Wenger has finally responded to rumours regarding a possible move to secure the signing of Riyad Mahrez this summer.

The Algerian international was strongly linked with a move to the Emirates stadium last year after a reported offer from Arsenal was declined.

Mahrez has continued to be deemed as a target for the Gunners this summer, especially with the future of star midfielder Mesut Ozil still uncertain.

The 26-year-old recently revealed that he would like to bring his career at Leicester City to an end after a below-par 2016/17 season.

And when asked whether he would take the opportunity to sign Mahrez, following reports of a £50m bid, Wenger revealed an offer had not been submitted yet.

“We have not made a bid, but personally, I like the player, yes. I think he made a huge impact when they won the championship.” the Gunners boss said

“Like at everybody else at Leicester, this season has been more challenging, but it doesn’t take away from his qualities.

“Have we made a bid for him? No. Not yet. No, we have not.

“When I say ‘not yet’ it means it could happen. It might not happen.”
