Petr Cech has admitted he doubts Arsenal will secure a final position higher than the usual third or fourth in the Premier League this season.
The Gunners, who are being chased by fifth-placed Manchester United, have been left to settle for a spot in the top four following a collapse in form which now sees league leaders Leicester City sitting 12 points ahead.
Arsenal’s failure to win the Premier League title means the next target with three games remaining will be to avoid finishing below arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
But after Sunday’s 0-0 draw at Sunderland, former Chelsea goalkeeper Cech insists his team has it all to do to even make it as runners-up.
“You need to start winning games. We have three games to play and we need to get as many points as we can” the Czech international said
“I don’t think it will be enough to finish in the top two now as the other teams have taken advantage of our two points dropped”
