Petr Cech has expressed his thoughts on what he felt was instrumental to Arsenal’s failure to secure glory last season.

The Gunners began the 2015/16 as top-four hopefuls at best, but the struggles of then champions Chelsea and title rivals Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool paved the way for a serious title challenge from Arsene Wenger’s men.

However, Arsenal managed to surrender their spot as league leaders by the spring despite siting top of the table at the start of January.

After having a chance to reflect on how his side conceded the Premier League title to surprise winners Leicester City, Cech has spoken about what lost Arsenal the crown last season.

“I think the first [quality we have now] is the strength in depth,” Cech said. “When we were unlucky with long-term injuries last season, we had to use the same players in so many games and you lack energy in certain parts of the season.

“We dropped points because we couldn’t rotate. This season we have strength in depth, you could see in the Champions League and domestic cup [games] and for the Premier League we keep using different players or can use the same players.
