Club official reveals Arsenal are ‘interested’ in signing of 22-year-old

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta appears to be keen on adding another defensive midfielder to his squad, despite the availability of players like Lucas Torreira, Matteo Guendouzi and Granit Xhaka.
After replacing Unai Emery at the Emirates stadium last month, Mikel Arteta will now have a chance to reshuffle the Arsenal squad the way he wants to, in order to help the club secure a return to the Champions League.
The new Gunners boss has been linked with a host of players and it looks as though Arteta is seriously targeting midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, who plays for Athletico Paranaense in Brazil.
The Brazilian has emerged as a very promising talent and after already benefiting from taking a chance on Gabriel Martinelli, Arsenal are seemingly keen on bringing in another South American starlet.
Indeed, according Athletico Paranaense president Mario Celso Petraglia, the Gunners are one of the clubs who are interested in the signing of the 22-year-old.
The head of the Brazilian club did add that Arsenal are rather waiting until the summer to make a move for Guimaraes.
“Yes it’s true. Yesterday came the official offer from Benfica to sign Bruno Guimaraes.” Petraglia said, as quoted by Metro
“Let’s study Benfica’s offer. On Monday we will meet the club board to assess this situation.
“Arsenal are interested, but will only make an offer towards the end of the season.”
