Arsenal are now nearing a couple of their first deals of the summer transfer window, only a week after the end of the 2017/18 season.

The Gunners wrapped up the campaign last weekend as a goal from Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang secured a 1-0 victory over Huddersfield Town in the Premier League.

Following the end of the season, the club is expected to process a few important deals within the squad whilst appointing a new manager.

And the move which appears to be on the cards at the moment is the exit of Santi Cazorla after six years in north London.

The veteran Spanish midfielder, who has been earning £90,000-a-week in wages, is rumoured to be closing in on a move to his old club Villarreal after recently recovering from his troublesome Achilles injury.

According to the La Liga club’s ambassador Marcos Senna, talks have been held with the Arsenal star over a move this summer.

“I would love to confirm it [a permanent transfer],” Senna said.

“But at the moment what I’ve said is that there are advanced negotiations between Santi Cazorla and Villarreal for the player to spend pre-season with the club. Cazorla will be a free agent.”
