Arsenal officials have reportedly stepped up their efforts towards wrapping up a deal to sign Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang before the end of the January transfer window.

The Gunners are now bracing themselves for the departure of star forward Alexis Sanchez who is on the brink of a transfer to Manchester United which will see Henrikh Mkhitaryan switch over to north London.

In the absence of Sanchez on Saturday, Arsenal were in superb form as they managed to score four goals in the first half to secure a thumping 4-1 victory over Crystal Palace.

The exit of the Chilean international has apparently forced the Gunners back into the transfer market for another replacement and Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang is the man being targeted.

Various rumours have suggested that Arsenal are pushing for a deal to sign the Gabonese striker, following a recent offer which was turned down by Dortmund.

Arsenal appear to have not given up on signing Aubameyang and less than 24 hours ago, three of the club’s officials were spotted in Germany on a mission to finalise the transfer.

Here were snapshots of Ivan Gazidis (chief executive), Huss Fahmy (contracts expert) and Sven Mislintat (chief scout) arriving, as reported by Goal, for more talks over the deal.
