‘Complete mess’ – Journalist says Arsenal transfer deal’s drama has added to ‘free fall’

Journalist Lewis Winter has stated that the Gunners are in a ‘complete mess’ after what has transpired in the club’s most recent attempt to sign a player.
After being appointed as the replacement for Arsene Wenger last year, Unai Emery might have expected the club’s owner Stan Kroenke to hand him the right backing to sign quality players in the transfer market.
However, the Gunners boss hardly has any money to spend this summer and after the arrival of Martinelli, Emery was looking to sign another young talent in William Saliba.
Even with the deal for Saliba being deemed as very close to completion at one point, Arsenal are now set to miss out on the defender after an offer from rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
It is a dramatic event in what has been a turbulent summer at the Emirates stadium and journalist Lewis Winter has summed up how much of a ‘free fall’ the club is in at the moment.
Arsenal are in free fall. They have signed zero players of any note, have a pathetic transfer budget, a squad full of deadwood and a captain who has gone on strike. Now Spurs are said to have outbid them for a player who was close to joining. Complete mess.
