The Gunners have begun the January transfer window with deals for players whom may have more to offer in the future than now.
Over his long tenure as manager of Arsenal, one of Arsene Wenger’s well-known assets has been his ability to nurture young players into stars.
The Arsenal manager continued that philosophy by securing a deal for Greek defender Mavropanos this week.and another deal has been wrapped up a day later.
Promising forward Xavier Amaechi has been rewarded with his first professional deal at the club.
“We would like to congratulate Xavier on his new contract and look forward to his continued progress at the club,” a statement from the Gunners said
The gifted 17-year-old will be looking to follow the footsteps of senior players like Jack Wilshere and Alex Iwobi who have made it into the first team from the club’s youth ranks.
Arsenal are still alive in the League Cup, a competition which has always been the experimenting stage for Wenger with some of the youth team’s best players.
