Arsene Wenger has been approached about the possibility of letting go of one of his out-of-favour first team stars according to rumours.

The Arsenal manager has offloaded a couple of youth players so far with Kaylen Hinds and Chris Willock securing moves to Wolfsburg and Benfica respectively.

And with only a year remaining on his contract at the club, Jack Wilshere is now in danger of leaving north London as well.

According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Arsenal have been approached by Sampdoria about a transfer move for Wilshere.

The report is indicating that the Italian side contacted the Gunners who are only demanding a fee in the region of $13 million (10 million euros) for the sale of the midfielder.

After being troubled by injuries over the past five seasons, Wilshere was handed an opportunity to redeem his form and fitness through a loan spell at Bournemouth last term.

Wenger has spoken in the past about his plans to offer the England international a new contract but Sampdoria are now awaiting his decision over whether to sell one of Arsenal’s longest-serving players in the current squad.
