Deal Close: Arsenal set for talks to agree multi-player deal, Wenger’s first move of important summer
Arsene Wenger is prioritizing deals for a number of his first team stars according to emerging reports this week.
The Arsenal manager has been slammed in the past by fans for failing to convince key players to remain at the club after running down their contracts.
However, to his credit, Wenger has already managed to secure the future Francis Coquelin, Laurent Koscielny, Olivier Giroud and Per Mertesacker well ahead of the summer by handing them new deals earlier this year.
And according to Talk Sport, at least three more first teams players – Jack Wilshere, Kieran Gibbs and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – are set to renew their deals as well.
The trio have only one year remaining on their contracts, as rumours continue to link them with a departure along with the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil.
Arsenal are believed to be confident of convincing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Kieran Gibbs to sign a contract extension but Jack Wilshere might need reassurances about the amount of playing time he will be handed if he does return from his loan spell at Bournemouth.
