The Gunners’ pursuit of one of AS Monaco’s star players has been brought to an end for now, it appears.
Arsene Wenger has managed to secure the acquisition of Sead Kolasinac on a free transfer so far to bolster his options in the defensive department.
However, the Arsenal manager was believed to be also pursuing the signing of French defender Djibril Sidibe whom he attempted and failed to recruit a year ago.
The 24-year-old had been linked with a move to the Emirates stadium and a host of big clubs this summer but a deal now seems unlikely following his agreement to sign a new five-year contract.
Monaco announced on Thursday that Sidibe had committed his future to the Ligue 1 champions, bringing an end to the pursuit of any suitors.
