Piers Morgan has called for Arsenal manager Unai Emery to spend more money on strengthening the heart of his defence after the defeat away to Southampton in the Premier League on Sunday.
Arsenal have been lauded for their attacking exploits for much of this season, but the table still shows that no team in the top five of the Premier League has conceded more goals than the Gunners.
In the recent clash with Manchester United, Arsenal’s defensive flaws were exposed by a team whom many felt they should have beaten comfortably on another day, had it not been for two errors right after taking the lead.
On Sunday, the Gunners faced Southampton with first choice centre-backs Shkodran Mustafi and Sokratis missing in what turned out to be a very frustrating away fixture.
The Saints took full advantage Arsenal’s faults at the back, scoring three times to secure a rare victory. And that saw Piers Morgan call for Emery to shop for two quality defenders in the transfer market….
