Done: Arsenal agree deal for combative defender to add to Sokratis’ expected move
The Gunners have agreed a deal for one of the most promising players in squad to commit his future to the club ahead of next season.
Arsenal are likely to be more busy in the transfer market than they were last year after appointing Unai Emery as the man to take over Arsene Wenger’s role.
The new Arsenal manager has already managed to secure the services of experienced defender Stephan Lichtsteiner with a deal for Borussia Dortmund star Sokratis Papastathopoulos expected to follow as well.
And while that deal for the Greek centre-back is being completed, the Gunners have announced that young defender Ainsley Maitland-Niles has put pen to paper on a new contract at the club.
The combative youngster, who was given much playing time last season ahead of Sead Kolasinac, has shown that he has what it takes to cement a place in the starting eleven in the future.
Big congratulations, @Ains_7 👊 https://t.co/rpIiebHVYK
