Dortmund coach speaks on selling Aubameyang to Arsenal
Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel has expressed his intent to decline the sale of Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang to Arsenal.
The Gabonese striker has been in prolific form in the Bundesliga this season, attracting interest from big clubs around Europe, including long-time admirers Arsenal.
Despite reports of a £44million enquiry from the Gunners about a transfer for Aubameyang later this month or in the summer, the German club’s boss has dismissed any chances of their talisman being sold.
“I can’t imagine for one moment Aubameyang leaving. He is the core of the team. We have a lot still to do with him.” Tuchel said
The 26-year-old, who has 18 league goals to his name so far this season, played and scored against Arsenal in last season’s 2-0 defeat at Dortmund in the Champions League group stage.
After recently being crowned the best African player of 2015, Aubameyang denied any talks of him moving to the Emirates stadium.
“Let me say this first: I am not going to Arsenal,” he told ESPN FC’s Colin Udoh at the CAF award ceremony in Nigeria. “Dortmund is my club and I am not leaving soon.”
