Eboue: Friends helped me get over being booed against Wigan
It has now been six months since that disgusting incident occurred late in Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Wigan last season.
Emmanuel Eboue – then fresh off a long injury lay-off – was jeered by a majority of the Emirates’ crowd after giving away possession on a number of occasions as the visitors showed intent of equalizing.
Impressively, the Ivorian would bounce back by winning over some of those critics with three rare goals to show for the rest of the campaign.
The event on that cold night in December still sinks in Eboue’s mind, but he is now very fond of his Arsenal stay particularly due to the support he received from close friends.
Eboue admits his confidence lowered during that time but people close to him helped lift his head up high again.
“After the game, my friends saw me and I was very dissapointed so after that they gave me a call to tell me to forget that and they helped me a lot. So now I feel very well and I will try my best to give more and 100% on the pitch” He said in the Arsenal Season Review DVD.
Countryman Kolo Toure was certainly one of many who consoled Eboue and Arsenal’s veteran defender acknowledges his versatile teammate saw out a very tough time.
“He is like my brother and for me, Eboue hurt is like Kolo Toure has been hurt. I think he is a strong man now and in life anything can happen and you have to be ready for anything.
Toure added: There are some hard times like that and you have to show that you’re a man and I think he did that.”
Well done Eboue for getting over the hurt and disappointment. Cheers to his friends at The Arsenal for helping Eboue to overcome those difficult times. ” A FRIEND IN NEED IS A FRIEND INDEED”.

adam, glad to see that Arsenal is still among the top four team in your ranking.
we need many more players actually…Problem is we have no money!!!
haha
Randy, your article shows us that footballers are people with feelings and emotions too. Hope that this episode will help us to be more sensitive with our action towards our own players.
I reckon Arsene will sign what he needs when he’s ready.. it’s his way to do it quietly.. when all is said and done we’ll have the squad we need to push on.. Eboue has had a hard time, but even when we were annoyed with him for his rashness he still fought back into contention.. nothing but loyal to AFC.. that is a lesson other more mercenary player could learn from… Peace and a bright future.. Thank you
Cashley.. for instance….
Guys- there is still enough time for us to make 2 to 3 good signings. I don’t think there will be more than 2
CDM
and Huntelaar
with what we have in reserves will be just fine.
We sell Eboue use that 9 to add onto what we already have
19 for Huntelaar will leave us with 10 to sign a CDM. Have faith in Wegner and remember window shuts on the 31st of August.
now looks like eboue will leave the club he has no reason to be loyal to arsenal after the treatment he recieved , good luck to eboue go and find some fans that will appreciate you !
USA – 2 or 3 signings? after vermy? this is Arsenal, are you sure you’re on the right thread? really?
Eboue is a pile of shite and Arsenal will never be title winners with him at the club.we have got rid of Lazybayor not lets get rid of this clown
I think we bring in Huntelaar, a CDM and then a young no namer..=====3 new signings. 30 plus days left and you know after the Em Cup he will bring someone in afer realizing we can use it.
We will be fine.
