Eboue set to return for Arsenal
Emmanuel Eboue is likely to be available for next Sunday’s clash with Manchester United at least.
Arsenal’s versatile right back is due to return from Africa Cup of Nations duty after his country was knocked out of the tournament by Algeria on Sunday.
The mixed news of Ivory Coast’s exit came in dramatic fashion after ‘the Elephants’ were pegged back twice to end 2-2 at full-time, only to see a late extra-time equalizer by Kolo Toure wrongly ruled out for offside after the Algerians had taken a 3-2 lead.
Eboue was not involved in the quarter-final anyway as he served suspension for a sending off against Ghana during the group stage and is likely to come back fresh in fitness for the Gunners.
The 26-year-old’s wait for a Cup of Nations medal will go on but Arsenal’s wait for his return should end this week as he prepares for a flight back to north London.
Egypt will face Alex Song’s Cameroon tomorrow in the other quarter-final.
