Arsenal manager Unai Emery has spoken on the injury status of Hector Bellerin’s back-up Ainsley Maitland-Niles ahead of the clash with Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Gunners are currently short of defensive options heading into the trip with Manchester City after suffering more injury blows over the past month.

Hector Bellerin was only making a return from several weeks on the sidelines when he also went down with an injury against Chelsea a couple of weeks ago.

With the Spanish defender now set to miss the rest of the season, Ainsley Maitland-Niles will be one of the remaining back-ups to fill in for Bellerin.

Unfortunately for the Gunners though, the Englishman has also been nursing an injury as the team prepares for the trip to Manchester City.

And at his pre-match press conference on Friday, Unai Emery revealed that Maitland-Niles was not able to take part in training ahead of the weekend.

“Today he didn’t train but we will look tomorrow.” the Arsenal manager said at his press-conference on Friday
