Arsenal manager Unai Emery has spoken on Aaron Ramsey’s contract situation after the Gunners’ win over Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Gunners have been criticized in recent years for failing to handle contract situations with players effectively.

Following the exits of Robin van Persie and Alexis Sanchez, most fans have often feared the possibility of a key player leaving to join a rival due to a contract dispute with Arsenal.

It has been rumoured for much of this season that Aaron Ramsey will not be handed a new contract with the club, increasing the chances of him following the foot steps of the aforementioned duo.

After the Welshman’s brilliant contribution off the bench in the win over Spurs, Emery was questioned about Ramsey’s contract situation and the Arsenal boss remained cagey with his response.

“I was thinking first about the first XI, then I was looking at the decisions, choosing the first XI with different possibilities.Aaron has chances to help us, either by starting the match or when the match is in the second half to play minutes.” Emery said in his post-match interview

“Above all today can be his day. Because it’s against Tottenham and he has experience of matches like today. We are continuing with him in our process, helping him to be with us with his performances, with his qualities and his experience here.”
