Fans react to Lichtsteiner’s performance vs Qarabag
Arsenal fans have taken to social media to express their thoughts on the performance of new signing Stephan Lichtsteiner in the 3-0 win over Qarabag in the Europa League on Thursday night.
The Switzerland international agreed to move to the Emirates stadium after his World Cup was over as he left Juventus where he had spent much of his career.
Lichtsteiner was brought to the club as a back-up for Hector Bellerin, following the departure of Mathieu Debuchy and the fact that Carl Jenkinson is still struggling with poor form and injury problems.
The veteran defender was called upon by Arsenal manager Unai Emery on Thursday as the Gunners made a trip to face Qarabag in the Europa League.
The match saw Arsenal secure yet another victory as they scored three goals to maintain their grip on top spot in their Europa League group.
Even though fans had praises for Lichtsteiner after his Arsenal debut a few weeks ago, the full-back attracted negative reviews after Thursday’s game…
Lichtsteiner just got turned inside out and tied into a knot. Good secondary coverage from the #Arsenal defense.

I have to hold up my hands and say as of now, Lichtsteiner wasn’t as good as I thought he was. Even though Bellerin isn’t amazing, he is better than Lichtsteiner.

Hate to say it but Lichtsteiner’s been poor. Smith-Rowe not much of a help down the right, similar to Özil with Bellerin, but at least with Bellerin we have the speed to cover the ground and gaps.
