New face: Gunners land first summer signing on four-year deal
Auxerre striker Yaya Sanogo will become Arsenal’s first acquisition this summer.
The 20-year-old had already agreed to join the Gunners last week and signed a pre-contract agreement over a four-year-deal at the Emirates stadium, but much of the formalities of his transfer are still in progress.
Auxerre president Cotret Guy has confirmed that Sanogo has now completed a medical to grant his move, but he will not team up with the Gunners until mid-June.
The youngster from Ligue 2 is out of contract this summer and will only cost Arsenal compensation of nearly £250,000 to Auxerre.
Sanogo, who made only 11 appearances in the league last season, does have his injury issues and will have to be carefully assessed by Arsenal when he permanently moves to London, but there are no issues concerning the talent of the 6’3” striker who netted a staggering seven goals in one week during a period in February. Those goals included four against Laval and a hat-trick against Tours.
Indeed, Sanogo’s exploits has been rewarded by France’s youth team coach Pierre Mankowski who has named the Arsenal-bound boy in the French Under-20 squad announced today ahead of the 2013 FIFA Under-20 World Cup.
Below were the four goals Sanogo netted against Laval three months ago.

Meh
This is gambel. Whether it will pay off, only time will tell. He must be given time . Unfortunately as withwith other kids, time is a luxury.
Wenger must go in 4 a premier league striker like Chritian Benteke
In Wenger’s history at Arsenal I cannot remember him ever buying a player that says, “Come and get me!”
thierry henry said ‘come and get me’ a couple years before he signed.
gilberto silva was one
HE WILL SURPRISE THE DOUBTING THOMASES
People will always doubt the capabilities of unknown talent but the maneger knows what he is doing .the only worry should be his injury history.spending big on proven talents does not necessarily guarrantee trophies you might endup buying a 50million Torres.
Balls on a platter? Weird
Some phenomenal tap ins there!! I just hope this isn’t the height of our ambitions this summer
If d guy is good u can sign him,,but we stil need a classic player lyk kosieny@d back nd player lyk cazorla nd rosicky in d midfield nd a classic striker atleast two classic striker
The team, needs believe, and any addition to the squad is to cover in terms of injury.. I love barca and dortmond for their believe in academy tallent.
BELIEF YOU IDIOT
Dem we don’t need youth strikers like this one, why don’t u go in 4 jovitic or someone with better experiences. Arsene wenger is always selfish with his french recutes whether they re gud or not.
Jovetic is not an out and out striker. He scored 12 league goals this year. Is that the ‘prolific’ striker you want? He’s an awesome player. I watch a vast amount of Italian football and he oozes class. But I’d rather Higuain. And as for Sanogo, he’s cost us £250,000… If he’s not a success, we don’t stand to lose much money… Hell we could even make a profit, like on Bendtner and Djourou when they both leave.
That was going so well until you mentioned bendtner and profit in the same sentence.
yaya???? may be for the future but when will it come. he’s got the talent and hopefully he will be there in two three years but what are we planning for next season. plse arsene get us a goal machine or some one who can assure us 20 plus goals a season. jst imagine if RVP remained and gave us only 20 goals we would have scored over 90 goals and we would be champs. as some of those were match winners. bring in lukaku or benteke
I do agree, both these players will make the difference, and add the fire power Arsenal needs upfront. But should Jose take over, he will not let Lukaku come to Arsenal under Wenger.
Arsenal should and can aim higher than Lukaku and Benteke…
benteke is quality, as good as rvp in no time
Has Wenger shown his hand / open fist? It seems to me that his intentions is on buying youngsters and not seasoned professionals.
But will he put together a team strong enough to compete at the highest level before the window closes.
Jack Wilshire is absolutely right, we can throw away the season with a poor start.
wenger pls will need a fisrt class striker this time because some years a go will we have a good team.but now we only have coach we dos nt hav team WE WANT TROPHY THIS TIME pls make sure buy fisrt class player
Is that true that arsenal has complete to join arsenal?
impressive comment. Makes complete sense…
What is the need of signing this guy, when we have the likes of Joel Campbell, Benik Afobe, Chuba Akpom, or is he better than this names
Thing is the transfer window hasn’t opened yet stop getting your knickers in a twist because we have not spent 70 million in the last week. Signings will come rumour is that we have agreed terms with Williams at Swansea I signing who will add strength and depth to the defence. The first 11 players we need to sign will take a little more time as if we’re after them Chelsea, Man Citeh and Manure will be after them too so we have o be very careful are deals are not publicised aka Jaun Mata look what happened there.
It’s a start.
Only time would show who is sanogo?
Come on guys this kid is clearly very talented and if you were manager wouldn’t you buy him? You can’t just buy stars you also have to buy future stars on the cheap. Don’t get me wrong with the TPA account full and the new deals coming in AFC could buy Cavani and pay him 200 k a week and not even break a sweat but AW want’s everyone to see him do it without this kind of purchase in order to have evryone pat him on the back when he nearly wins the league next season and finishes second and everyone will pat him on the back and extend his contract because he nearly did it. Well I am an engineer and when I nearly get my job done everyone can nearly make a phone call with there mobile but apparantly thats not good enough. For AFC for too long now nearly is considered success and until AW puts his ego to one side and realises that you build a team around a goal machine and not a prospect then we can actually push on and win the league. I have a horrible feeling this will never happen so I compiled a realistic list of players which I hope he signs. Wilfried Bony (worth buying no matter what. Next drogba.) Wanyama, Adel Rami, Mignolet. Personally I would sign these four plus a superstar striker as we could just about afford it all if you read the swiss ramble you’ll see that if we don’t do something drastic our operational profit will drop to the point where there will be no return to the top flight so for me the £40m on cavani is as much to save the club as it would be to save AW. Got to land Cavani, imagine if he was at Chelski or Man city, it would be a the final nail in the coffin.
Well said. I agree that bony, wanyama & mignolet would be good signings for us. 3 decent player’s for the price of one (jovetic). Im not sure about benteke. He looks like he has a attitude/ego problem that could unsettle team in the future.. Yes he has done well with the goals but so did p.cisse when he first arrived at Newcastle but he didn’t follow up on that nor did the little pea at man utd.
Okay… So, where is Ryo Miyaichi, Wellington Silva and all the other superstar kids we bought in the recent past? Gimme a break men!
Good news if we should go by what have been posted…. Gunners 4 life………
ARSENE WENGER PLEASE BUY QUALITY PLAYER FOR ARSENAL. FORM NIGERIA FANS. (POPOOLA ABBEY) ARSENAL 4 LIFE
Let’s not jump the gun on this guy Sanogo …. he may just be a part of that ‘Missing Jig-Saw’ in the Arsenal Puzzle!
Am certain there are more coming in to resolve the entire puzzle!
Intresting to see hw AW will go about his summer signingz. Sanogo will be gud ,Williams necessary and another cb Defender to increase options -TV(captain) and Djorou out. Hope mo wise signings are lined up this summer
The gunners
That is good news to arsenal as a club § its fans but hoping he performs .The factor is that him being young § injury prone ,arsenal needs one more mature talented § more experienced striker if they are to win any sliver wear nxt season.
One 4 d future, wel done Arsen.
Well its not a top signing but its a start. As long as he scores aload of tap in’s for arsenal we’re all gooner be happy.
Do you think its d dcesion to sign sanogo
Disappionted his seven gls came against two opponents, who nobody has heard of.
Would have liked if the goals were spread out, almost making two gls per game.
The least well get from him is a decent transfer sum, considering there must be some improvement working within the Arsenal. Obviously im hoping for the best, that he will be spoken along the same lines as our Henry Vieira Pires. Or even a top squad player giving competition will do nicely.
Sanogo is not the type of player arsenal need now
Wenger please buy striker from premier league, we don’t want heart break this coming season.
Wenger please buy striker from premier league, we don’t want heart break this coming season, Gunners for life.
Arsenal please buy striker from premier league, we don’t want heart break this coming season, Gunners for life.
Chritian Benteke, is a must buy if Wenger is serious and finished with the cheap crap from france. get rid of bendtner, cham, squillachi, gervinho and get some proper quality in. Had enough heart ache and can’t believe not so long ago we were winning the league or finishig 2nd with silver. Bring them days back Wenger I know you can.
More cheap and injury prone. After 4years Arsenal will have wasted millions. Like Chamakh, park , etc etc etc
He reminds me of Kanu Nwankwo, he is welcomed.
Like Henry like every others but this lad is fucken tall
Thancx,is gud 2 have him but we stil need more quolity players
Lets hope hes not another chamahk
he’s free and young.. why not?
Wenger will surely buy another striker of better quality to challenge for a spot.
As much as I’m happy that we’ve signed this guy. I still think that Akpom deserves a chance in the team more than this guy does.
