Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright has expressed his anger on social media after hearing a fan criticize the group of players who were called upon to feature in Saturday’s charity game.
Only four games into the new season, fans have seen their joy of watching the Gunners in action paused as several players join up with their national teams for post-World Cup fixtures.
Arsenal did their best to hand the fans some sort of entertainment over the international break by organizing a charity affair between Real Madrid and the club’s respective ‘legends’.
However, after watching the game end in a 0-0 draw on Saturday, some fans who were in the stands, left the stadium complaining about the level of quality put on display even though the match was not meant to be competitive.
And after one fan questioned the club’s decision to select seemingly low quality ex-players for the game, Ian Wright stepped in with a passionate response.
