Alexis Sanchez has reportedly turned down an offer from Arsenal for being insufficient as he stalls on a decision to renew his contract.
Arsene Wenger’s side has been spearheaded by the performances of Sanchez who has racked up a sublime total of 14 goals and 10 assists in all competitions this season.
However, with only 18 months remaining on the player’s contract at the club, all sorts of rumours have linked the Chilean superstar with an imminent exit.
And according to the Mirror, there has been another twist in the Sanchez saga after the player refused to accept Arsenal’s new offer of a £180,000-a-week deal.
The report claims that the former Barcelona star is demanding a £250,000-a-week pay rise which the Gunners may be reluctant to put on the table.
If Sanchez refuses to sign a new deal ahead of next season, Arsenal will be forced to sell the 27-year-old next summer to avoid losing him to free-agency if he runs down the final year of his contract; a scenario similar to what led to Robin van Persie’s exit in 2012.
