Former Arsenal captain William Gallas has expressed his thoughts on the possibility of the club missing out on a top four finish this season.
The Gunners are currently sitting in sixth place after a disappointing run of four defeats in their last five league games.
If Arsenal were to finish outside the top four this season, it would be the first time that had happened during Wenger’s long reign.
However, Gallas insists the impact could be similar to Leicester City last season or even Chelsea this term where the absence of European football spear-heads a successful challenge for the Premier League.
“If they are not qualified for the Champions League next season it would be one less competition for them and look what Chelsea are doing at the moment,” the ex-Gunner said
“They don’t play in the Champions League, they are top of the Premier League and everything is perfect for them.
“So if Arsenal don’t play in the Champions League next season maybe they can win the Premier League.”
