Most of the Arsenal players who are currently representing their countries managed to make a telling contribution over the weekend.
The likes of Mesut Ozil and Nacho Monreal provided assists for Germany and Spain respectively while Alex Iwobi found the back of the net for Nigeria in their victory at Zambia.
Of course, players like Wojciech Szczesny and Joel Campbell who are still on the club’s books, have also been flying the Arsenal flag in this month’s international break.
Campbell, who was sent out on loan to Sporting Lisbon during the summer transfer window, was called up again by Costa Rica coach Oscar Ramírez for La Tricolor’s fixtures.
And the 24-year-old made a big difference for his country in their entertaining friendly with Russia which ended in a 4-3 win.
As he did in the pre-season clash between Arsenal and the MLS All-Star team, Campbell was the man who boldly stepped up to score Costa Rica’s winning goal from the penalty-spot in injury time.
