The Gunners have been handed some good news on the injury front heading into this weekend’s Premier League clash at home to Bournemouth.

Arsene Wenger’s men are under pressure to redeem their form following back-to-back defeats to Stoke City and Liverpool on the road.

Much of Arsenal’s struggles over the past year has come in the absence of Santi Cazorla who last featured at the beginning of the 2016/17 season.

But after spending a lengthy spell on the sidelines, Wenger has revealed the Spaniard is finally set to resume some action on the pitch.

“Santi is having his first run today,” said the Arsenal boss. “So that is quite positive.

“The flexibility of the ankle looks good, his mobility is good. Now it’s about getting back to full fitness without having any set backs.”

Despite Cazorla’s progress, Wenger is still unsure of when the former Malaga star will actually be playing in competitive matches again.

“It’s very difficult to predict when he will be available again,” he added

“Not before Christmas, that’s why I didn’t involve him in the Europa League but after Christmas I hope he will be available.

“He has not played for almost a year now.

“He has had a few surgeries so we are always cautious to set a time or date, but overall it looks positive.”
