Tottenham Hotspur may be without one of their key defenders when they travel to the Emirates stadium after the international break.
The Gunners will be hosting their fierce rivals next weekend in a vital clash after losing 3-1 away to league leaders Manchester City on Sunday .
Arsene Wenger is expected to be without a couple of centre-backs – Shkodran Mustafi and Per Mertesacker – for the upcoming north London derby.
But Tottenham are now sweating over the fitness of their own defender with Jan Vertonghen likely to sit out Belgium’s next fixture of the international break.
The 30-year-old, who has been in impressive form so far this season, appears to have picked up an ankle injury while on duty with his country.
“Jan will not be in the squad tomorrow either, he is suffering from a slight discomfort in his ankle, but that’s nothing serious,” Belgium boss Martinez explained ahead of Friday’s friendly with Mexico
