Good news for Arsenal: Massive injury blow for Bayern Munich ahead of Champions League clash
Bayern Munich have been dealt a significant injury blow ahead of their Champions League clash with Arsenal.
The German champions are preparing to host Arsene Wenger’s side on February 15 in the first leg of the round of 16 tie.
Despite the fact that Arsenal finished top of their group while Bayern Munich were behind Atletico Madrid in their section, the Bundesliga side will head into the encounter as favourites.
However, Carlo Ancelotti’s team will not be at full strength following the news that key defender Jerome Boateng will be ruled out by injury.
According to German outlet Kicker, the former Manchester City star is now out until the start of March and will therefore miss both games against Arsenal.
In addition to the absence of Boateng, Bayern have a concerning lack of options in defense with Matt Hummels and Javi Martinez now the only centre-backs available to play.
