Good news for Arsenal over transfer of £35m star as club official speaks out
Arsenal have been handed a major boost in their continued pursuit of Sevilla midfielder Steven N’Zonzi ahead of next season.
The Gunners have been linked with a host of players as usual, as new manager Unai Emery looks to strengthen the squad he inherited from Arsene Wenger.
The Spanish tactician has been rumoured to be targeting a move for Steven N’Zonzi, whom he worked with during his days at Sevilla.
N’Zonzi has constantly been linked with a transfer to Arsenal for several years and a deal would make sense.
The midfielder has a £35million release clause in his contract with Sevilla and the club’s director of football Joaquin Caparros has revealed that the Gunners simply need to make a bid of that amount for a deal to be done.
“Is that a rumour or is it true? Has Unai Emery called you? Well, as a successful man, Unai Emery knows what line the club keeps,” he said when asked about Arsenal’s possible move for the ex-Stoke City star.
“If he wants N’Zonzi, he will have to call and put the bid in. And the bid is the clause. If you put that bid in, then there are no more negotiations [over the fee].”
