Arsenal manager Unai Emery has been given some good news on the fitness of one of his key centre-backs ahead of Wednesday night’s trip to Brighton in the Premier League.

The new Arsenal manager has been troubled by injuries this season, almost in the same way that his predecessor Arsene Wenger suffered during the latter stages of his reign at the club.

Several players have been ruled out of action due to injuries so far this season, prompting some fans to call for new signings in January to add more depth to what is becoming a very thin Arsenal squad.

One of the players who recently succumbed to an injury blow is Shkodran Mustafi, a defender whom Emery appears to have a lot of faith in.

The German centre-back has been sidelined by a hamstring problem and in his absence, Granit Xhaka has surprisingly been featuring at the back.

However, much to the relief of most fans, Mustafi is now expected to make a return this week.

“Right hamstring. Expected to return to full training this week.” an official update from the Gunners stated
