Holding has moment to remember in America

It is only pre-season but new signing Rob Holding has snatched a moment which will do him a world of good in his upcoming Arsenal career.

The 20-year-old agreed to join the Gunners last week after an impressive season for Bolton Wanderers despite their releagtion to the third division.

Holding, who made his debut in the red and white shirt on Thursday as Arsenal defeated the MLS All-Stars 2-1, kept his place in Arsene Wenger’s line-up for the final pre-season game in America on Sunday.

The English youngster looked fairly nervy on the ball in the opening minutes, giving the ball away as Chivas de Guadalajara nearly punished his mistake with a goal.

However, a deep free-kick from Santi Cazorla saw Calum Chambers guide the ball across the goal for Holding to tap it home to put Arsenal 1-0 ahead.

It was an unexpected goal-scoring touch from Wenger’s new signing who needs every little positive to help find his feet at his new club.
