Arsenal have received a swift response after making a substantial offer for one of the club’s transfer targets following the opening of the January transfer window.

Unai Emery decided to add a number of defensive players to his squad during the summer, and therefore many have expected him to pay attention to his attacking options this time in the January transfer window.

The Gunners have been linked with several attackers over the past couple of months with AS Roma star Cengiz Under reported to be on the club’s radar.

However, according to a report by Turkish source Fotomac, Arsenal’s offer of £55 million to sign the 21-year-old star has been rejected by the Italian club.

With several key attacking players ruled out of action due to injuries, Emery has been considering the option of signing a new winger or midfielder this month.

Under’s price tag was lower than the offer which Roma have rejected from Arsenal but the winger’s impressive performances in recent months have raised his market value.
