Gunners plot move for Costa in potentially surprising transfer
Arsenal are considering a surprise move for one of Chelsea’s stars according to emerging rumours from Friday.
Arsene Wenger is believed to be in search of a new striker with the future of Lucas Perez and Alexis Sanchez still looking uncertain.
Thus, the Arsenal manager is supposedly plotting a deal for Diego Costa to improve his attacking options ahead of next season.
According to reports, the Gunners, along with Manchester United, are now in the race for the surprise signing of the former Atletico Madrid striker.
The 28-year-old, who joined Chelsea in a £32 million deal after the 2014 World Cup, revealed this week that Antonio Conte had notified him that he is not part of the club’s plans.
Costa is believed to be seeking a return to his old club but if Diego Simeone is not keen on bringing him back to Atletico, the striker would have to consider other options.
Of course, the last time Chelsea and Arsenal did any business in the transfer market was during the summer of 2015 as Petr Cech made a north London switch.
