However the ousting of fellow English sides Liverpool and Chelsea means that the Gunners and Manchester City now represent England’s only hope in Europe’s elite club competition.
Arsenal’s progress in the Champions League could affect any slender chances of catching Chelsea in the Premier League title race.
Therefore, it came as surprise that Eden Hazard was not afraid to admit that he will be backing the Gunners when they take on AS Monaco.
“I have a friend Ferreira-Carrasco over there [at Monaco] and I wish him the best. But for English football, I hope Arsenal go through.” Hazard told Canal+
