‘He was a waste’, ‘Wasn’t good enough’: Some fans bashed Arsenal star after loss
A number of Arsenal fans took to social media to hit out at one of the attackers who featured in the loss at home to Olympiacos in the Europa League on Thursday evening.
The Gunners were definitely not short of confidence heading into Thursday’s game after beating Olympiacos in last week’s first leg, a win which was sandwiched by victories over Newcastle United and Everton in the Premier League.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta decided to keep Nicolas Pepe in the starting eleven as Gabriel Martinelli remained on the bench. With the Gunners chasing a goal in extra time, Aubameyang gave the hosts what they needed with a brilliant strike before Olympiacos scored in the dying minutes to decide the result.
Following the frustrating outcome, a number of fans slammed the performance of Pepe who could not produce the contribution he would have wanted despite seeing much of the ball.
Some fans took to Twitter to criticize the display of the Ivory Coast international after a sorry night for the club…

Anyone surprised by Nico Pepe not performing doesn’t watch football. You guys just watch highlights. He wasn’t very good at Lille. The only difference is, awful defending allowed him to score and hide poor performances.

For such a talented player, Nicolas Pepe could be so annoying and frustrating sometimes. Dribbles too much, holds on to the ball too much and then could be so indecisive in the final third like WTF bro! We're on the ropes here. Quit playing like we're three goals up! #ARSOLY

Don’t look at Pepe, look at the other Arsenal players getting frustrated with every useless Pepe move. This is amateurish, selfish and out of control (he couldn’t stop himself). https://t.co/p3ajCvcVTM

You need a more selfless winger than Aubameyang to balance pepe's selfish nature, especially if aubameyang is going to play as the #9 instead of lacazette
