Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney has heaped praise on Jack Wilshere who is yet to start a game for England at Euro 2016.
The Arsenal midfielder is still improving his match fitness after returning from a long injury lay-off last month to see out the final games of the 2015/16 season.
Wilshere’s inclusion in Roy Hodgson’s England squad for this summer’s tournament has been questioned by many who believe the Gunners star should have been left out for Leicester City’s Danny Drinkwater.
However, Rooney insists the 24-year-old does not deserve any of the criticism he has received.
“I think everybody knows Jack’s qualities, he’s a fantastic player” Rooney said
“He can take the ball and run at players and he can create chances. Jack doesn’t have to prove himself to us as a teammate”
