‘He’s speaking to his family’ – Arsenal agree January deal

Gedion Zelalem is set to seal a new deal which will see him remain in Scotland for the rest of the campaign.
The highly-rated Arsenal youngster is currently at Rangers on a six-month loan after being sent out to the Scottish championship during the summer.
But following Zelalem’s impressive form, Rangers boss Mark Warburton has expressed his plans to keep the midfielder at the club for the rest of the campaign.
As a result, Liam Brady, in Glasgow as an Arsenal representative, has held talks with Rangers to extend the 18-year-old’s loan deal till May.
“So far, we are in good shape,” said Warburton. “The feedback from Arsenal has been very positive.
“He is speaking to his family and, hopefully, we are closing to securing him.”
Despite Arsenal’s current injury woes, there now appears to be no signs of a mid-season return for Zelalem who is one of several stars out on loan.
“The current deal is until January, but, as long as everyone is happy, we will extend that.” the Rangers boss added
“I have been delighted with his contribution and the last game he played for Rangers was his best so far.
“We have a great relationship with Arsenal and our job is to make sure they know their asset is being developed properly.”
Gedion is progressing well. He is definately one to keep an eye on for tne future. I think if he does stay at Rangers until the summer. He will become a better player for it.
I know that most men stop growing by 18 years old, with some continuing to grow until 21 and a few until they reach 25. Sometimes the growth and bulking up can happen really quickly. Big changes can be noticed over just a few weeks.
I hadn’t see Gideon for a bit until yesterday in the Livingstone game. it was a pretty feisty affair and Gedion handled himself really well. I could be wrong but he looked a couple of inches taller than the he was when he started the season at Ibrox. He has definitely put a little bit of muscle on as well I think.
He looked a lot more robust than the kid that looked so delicate when he first arrived. He’s no Martin Keown but I think Arsenal fans would be pleased to see that plus his footballing skills are coming along nicely. He loves to be on the ball and Rangers like to play through him, so that suits nicely.
All Rangers fans will be glad if he stays till the end of the season. It’ll be good for us that’s for sure. But it will be good for the player too. he isn’t ready for the Gunners squad just yet, but I think he might well be next season with further improvement. Arsenal will reap the benefit of this, big time, Someday soon. Of that, I’m very confident. Good work all round.
