Arsenal have been reassured by the fitness update of a key player ahead of the clash with Manchester United next Saturday.
The Gunners prepared for the international break with a relatively disappointing result as a penalty-kick from Harry Kane denied them victory in the north London derby.
That has been followed by more worrying news for Arsene Wenger with Hector Bellerin now set to be sidelined for over a month while Alexis Sanchez struggles to shrug off a calf-problem he picked up in Chile training on Tuesday morning.
However, Arsenal have received some positive news on another front with key striker Olivier Giroud dismissing any worries about his fitness.
The French international, who recently returned from injury, insists he is likely to be fit for next weekend’s fixture and start at Old Trafford should Sanchez be sidelined.
“I have not been back to the Stade de France since the [Euro 2016] final,” Giroud said.
“It was a special moment for me and it felt good to play 90 minutes again.
“I have no problems with my injury. I feel good.”
