‘I never thought we’d become a selling club’: Former Gunner speaks out
One of the heros of Arsenal’s ‘Invincibles’ side has expressed his surprise at the Arsenal of today.
Edu Gaspar, who helped secure two Premier League crowns for Arsene Wenger in only four years in north London, claims that the Gunners’ inability to retain its prized assets over the past eight years has contributed to what is becoming a long trophy drought.
Asked whether he ever thought the FA Cup triumph he enjoyed on his final day as an Arsenal player would go on to be the club’s last taste of silverware to date, the Brazilian was quick to admit his disbelief.
“No! No, because I did not imagine that Arsenal would sell so many big players in such a short period of time as they have done.” Edu confessed
“But even then because of Arsenal’s grander, I did not imagine that the club could spend so long without winning a title because I got used to Arsenal back in the early days, winning so many trophies ” He added
By the end of his Arsenal stay in May 2005, Edu was looking back at five major honours in the red and white, and despite the failures of those who have taken over from him, Arsenal’s former no. 17 is adamant that the Gunners will rediscover their glorious days.
“The club will return to winning ways. It will restructure itself once again because it is a team that deserves it” Edu said

I’m glad some of the invincibles still have faith in Wenger. I think he’s still got fire in his belly to lift this team and prove the doubters wrong. The team is on a good run and they are going to face a strong test of character tomorrow. If we come through it with 3 points we will definitely fight for the league next season. CYOG!
If he has fire in his belly it must be a pretty small one, no balls to fight the board on anything.
Wenger is way too compliant and bends over for the board at every order to sell or not buy.
A good manager fights on and off the pitch!
I watched this interview, he was doing to Barclays premier league review.
It was Premier League World 😀
The best response for RVP’s homecoming is to beat MU. He scored the goal of the century
according to his boss. The rf may as well say the best goal in ten thousand years, sorry, games. In the AV game, the dm was isolated and had time and space.Deny him that as in the cl we will know he can’t score.
If Arsenal can score like Spurs did to equalise but win for Arsenal ,I won’t bother. Wenger better win ugly and not try to weave his way in.Imho, the speed of the attack is lacking in the gunners attacking game ,thereby giving defenders time to mass in numbers. We have been saying this for many a moon but yet the fm’s game plan is easy to counter and a swift breakway will result in a goal in the gunners net.
I am wary when the fm says the gunners will catch up with Mu soon. He has been saying this kind of things for the last 8 years. And yet the gap keeps on widening. If the gunners can’t get 4th,it could turn into a chasm. The it’s time for him to vamoose and play his pass ,and passs a thousand times before shooting elsewhere.
