left-back Andre Santos is very likely to play again before the season ends.

The summer signing was brought in to fill the void left by the departed Gael Clichy and the injury-prone Kierran Gibbs.

And Santos has not failed to impress – in attack at least – displaying skillful ability going forward and even scoring a vital strike in the revival at Chelsea which ended 5-3 in favour of the Gunners.

Indeed, Santos was gradually becoming popular among fans before he was risked to take part in  a midweek Champions League trip to Olympiakos which saw him suffer a severe ankle injury, keeping him out of action ever since.

The Brazilian international recently had surgery to ligament damage in his ankle and Arsene Wenger vowed to not rush him back into action.

The Gunners though, have struggled in Santos’ absence with Thomas Vermaelen, Ignasi Miquel and even Francis Coquelin all tried and tested at left-back for Arsenal.

But Santos has now added to the boosting news of Kierran Gibbs return, after being tipped to be back in action by next month.

“He (Santos) is not very far away. We will give him over one month more. He is progressing well. We planned 12 weeks after the surgery and he is on schedule.” Wenger said

Should Arsenal progress in the FA Cup and Champions League, March will be the busiest month of the campaign, and therefore, all players will be counted on.
