INTERVIEW: Arshavin’s reaction to United defeat
Every Arsenal player felt hard done by at Manchester United yesterday but having scored the only goal in favor of the Gunners, Andrey Arshavin had the right to be very upset.
The Russian limped off late on with an injury, but with Premier League action not back until next week, Arshavin may only miss the international break.
And speaking to his personal website later on Saturday, the 28-year-old gave his reaction to the extremely unlucky visit to Old Trafford.
Question: Isn’t it a pity today?
[A.A]: Now I am upset with the result.
Yes, we suffered the first defeat, which, I think will give us additional strength. We will later draw our conclusions for the season and not now.
We lost because once we went ahead, the team was still playing an attacking brand of game rather than sitting back – because you don’t just want to retain the lead but maybe add more.
In the second half, Manchester pressed little but did enough to score two goals on us. After that, we got desperate but we had really given enough and so all the three points were thrown away.
Andrew, is Fletcher’s first half tackle why you were replaced later on?
[A.A]: I began the game injured anyway. This injury has worried me for a long time, but I had to play.
I may be able to perform in St. Petersburg during the international break. And all my hope is to get treatment from doctors quick, but believe me, I will be able to recover – if not for the match with Liechtenstein, then at least for Wales.
Andrew, fine health! then. Russia will be waiting for its captain.
[A.A]: This is the only positive point today. For tomorrow I’m going home to Russia.
randy u have to check this out link
Haha, I have already seen it Usama. I never doubted that man and his new club were manipulative pricks who will want a rematch for every game they lose.
wise you cock sucker.so what we lost.i will hunt u down and use you for shark bait fuck face
we had the bad luck utd NEVER scored here no they never we MUST remember this, we scored the only goal the trouble was we scored two goals one each end oooops.
seriously though the lads dropped their heads. simple as that. hey we lost the game we were NOT beaten.
we were by far the better side and diaby was unlucky, i feel sorry for him cos hes not very clever and quite clumsy but still improving. I also think that we could have scored more goals if AW would just play players in the right positions e.g. play arshavin in the middle and van persie on the left because arshavin is without a doubt more dangerous on the ball and a better striker, and play jack wilshere on the right wing instead of eboue it would have made us a lot more threatening going forward. but never mind, by the way things are looking we dont have to worry about man u when they come to the emirates lol i would say about 4-1(rooney or nani will dive to get another penalty)
btw vermaelen and gallas are looking unbeatable our defensive problems may be over!
You are right about playing asharvin in the middle and van persie on wing, but the fact that we have to use wilshire just shows how much Wenger needs to add strength and experience to the squad. When it matters the most arsenal will always fall short. our defensive problems are not over maybe you do not realise that all those goals came as a result of almunia making wrong decisions. Did you see the goal by portsmouth?.wenger still needs to buy a top class finisher and defensive midfielder to cover for Song. tis team is flimsy any injury to Gallas, vamaleen or song everything will crumble.
Yay the game was a treat to watch, Arsenal dominated the play completely.
lol at Man utd guys .. they spend 25m$ on tat useless Valencia n 45m$ odd for stupid Berbatov n still they wer no mach to wenger’s young guns .. Arshavin was our costliest signing at 20m$ n he was bettr than every Man utd player on the pitch .. They had their full squad except Rio n Van der sar ..But we hav abt 6 injured n still our young plyers jus outshone them n tat too in Old trafford .. So get sum more depth n xperience n we can be a threat to anyone even Barca, let alone Manure ..!
We lost because of
a) Almunia.
b) Diaby.
Our team lacks bottle in big games.
Having said that we are getting better.
Alan, not sure your bottle comment makes any sense. Physically, Almunia did not stop the PK and Diaby headed in the OG. So … apart from calling the obvious, not sure what is your point.
But agree that arsenal are improving.
Rooney is a piece of shit. Berba has comically lost his finishing ability. And Nani is greasier than ronaldo and nowhere near as good.
Seems like the gunners played unted off the park but the luck we had at celtic left us on the weekend. Missing points totally sucks, but I am encouraged nevertheless.
