Former Arsenal player Nwankwo Kanu has reacted to the Gunners’ most profitable sale of the summer transfer window, which was completed on deadline day.

Arsenal’s disappointing end to last season – where they lost to Chelsea in the Europa League final – meant that Unai Emery was expected to get rid of one or two players at least, heading into the new season.

The Arsenal boss had mostly been letting go of young, reserve players all summer but he made a huge profit last week by agreeing a deal for Alexi Iwobi to be sold.

After an offer from Everton which proved to be sufficient from Arsenal, the club quickly accepted the bid, ordering the 23-year-old to head to Goodison Park.

Arsenal’s decision to sell Iwobi was perhaps one that his countryman Kanu did not expect but the former Gunner had an upbeat reaction to the transfer.
