Klopp accuses Premier League club of helping Arsenal with a ‘favour’

Jurgen Klopp has accused Southampton of helping Arsenal secure all the three points in Wednesday’s Premier League clash.

After struggling to produce efforts on goal in the first half, the Gunners managed to score twice after the restart to clinch a vital victory in the race for a top four place.

The result came only three days after Southamtpon had held Liverpool to a 0-0 draw in a game which saw the Saints register a rare clean sheet on the road.

Thus, Liverpool boss Klopp has suggested that Arsenal’s 2-0 win in midweek appeared to be a favour from Claude Puel’s side.

“In our last game against Southampton we had 70% possession,” Klopp said.

“Southampton played very, very defensive orientated against us.

“I saw their game on Wednesday (against Arsenal) and it was a very open game.

“I’m not sure why they did this favour to Arsenal but it was a completely different game.”

Arsenal are currently four points behind third-placed Liverpool but the Gunners do have the advantage of a game in hand.

  1. I can now understand why many dislike Liverpool and see them as a small club, Arsenal will always finish above them and their deluded manager

  2. Typical Liverpool, it’s always someone else’s fault, didn’t take Klopp very long to get into scouse mind set.

  3. Such cobblers from coffee teeth; Southampton always seem to try their hardest against us at their home, but bend over backwards for other teams.

  4. Not sure how intelligent Klopp is making this unfair comment. I watched both games and Southampton made an honest attempt to win both games. When a team plays at home they will usually attempt to win rather than settle for a draw.
Sounds like sour grapes to me and insulting to Southampton Football Club
