Laurent Koscielny will be handed his competitive debut as an Arsenal player on Sunday.
The Gunners’ most costly summer signing has been given the nod to pair up with Thomas Vermaelen at the heart of Arsenal’s back-line against Liverpool.
The 24-year-old had a mixed pre-season for his new club – stuttering on some occasions but impressive in the Emirates Cup.
At Anfield, Koscielny might not have the most straightforward of debuts, but the former Lorient defender has been preferred to Johan Djourou for Sunday’s big kick-off.
“I have spoken to Laurent and he will discover the Premier League on Sunday,” said Wenger.
“You can talk and talk but at the end of the day the players show what they can do on the pitch and he will have an opportunity to do that.”
