Over a decade after helping Arsenal win their last Premier League title to date, Jens Lehmann has revealed one of the memorable moments from the dressing.
The Gunners could only secure the league title in the 2003/04 season with a 2-2 draw at White Hart Lane as Tottenham came back from two goals down to snatch a point.
A controversial penalty-kick which was dispatched by Robbie Keane on the stroke of full-time is what handed Arsenal’s fierce rivals a share of the spoils on that day.
And according to Jens Lehmann, Arsene Wenger’s mood was initially dampened by the late spot-kick before he later realized it should not have been given by the referee anyway.
“I will not forget two things, when we became champions he thought I gave away a penalty against Spurs, so I was sulking in the dressing room, then one and a half hours later, he said ‘Oh I’m sorry, it wasn’t a penalty’.” the German told the Mirror
