One of the members of Leicester City’s title-winning squad from last season has revealed that Arsenal’s complacent attitude is what saw them knocked out of the title race.
Following the struggles of major rivals Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool, Arsenal were chosen by many as the favourites for the 2015/16 title.
However, a terrible collapse in form between mid-January and April saw them go from leading the Premier League to trailing Leicester City by ten points.
Despite being behind Claudio Ranieri’s men on the table, the Gunners were actually the only side to beat the Foxes in both home and away meetings last term.
And according to Robert Huth, it was the second defeat to Arsenal in February – where Danny Welbeck scored the winner – which made Leicester eager to punish the mentality of Arsene Wenger’s side.
“For me the key point was when we lost to Arsenal,” Huth said.
“Everyone was celebrating, they [Arsenal players] were doing selfies. Even though we were still top.
“A few of the lads stuck a few of those pictures up and it got the blood boiling. It gave us an extra yard in the next few games.”
